How to read and listen with optimistic.day.
Start with Today
Today opens the entry for the date on your iPhone. Wisdom, author, source and companion text belong together. Internet is needed for the first download; loaded texts remain readable offline.
Explore Collection
Browse all 366 calendar entries, including February 29. Search by words or filter by mood. Open an entry to read or listen.
Listen to one entry
Tap Listen. The immersive player shows the text over a subdued Atkins image. Use Play/Pause, the position slider and arrows. Previous restarts the current entry after a few seconds of playback; near the beginning it moves to the previous entry.
Read at your own pace
The full text stays visible. A quiet paragraph highlight estimates listening position from text length and recording duration; it is not a word-level transcript. Scrolling yourself suspends following until the next entry or until you reopen the player.
Keep listening
Enable Keep listening to hear the next entries with short pauses. The month selector starts the first recorded entry in that month. Shuffle visits each entry once in the current order. The month selector remains available but faded; choosing a month turns shuffle off. These modes reset when the app restarts.
Pause, background and resume
Closing pauses playback. The mini player reopens your listening session. While playing you can leave the app or lock the screen and use system media controls. Restarting the app restores your last listening position, paused.
Choose a language
Open the top-right menu and select Deutsch, English, Italiano or Norsk bokmål. An existing listening session keeps its language until you start another entry in the newly selected language.
Offline and refreshing
Loaded texts and recordings still in the cache work offline. Audio storage is bounded; older recordings can be removed. There is no permanent download library. If content will not load, reconnect and choose Refresh content in the menu.
Troubleshooting
Check your connection, volume and selected audio output. If audio and text do not match, refresh content and start the entry with Listen. For further help email [email protected] with iPhone model, iOS/app version, language and entry date. Do not send passwords or payment information.
