My formula for greatness in a human being is amor fati: that one wants nothing to be different, not forward, not backward, not in all eternity. Not merely to bear what is necessary, but to love it.
Would you want to be twenty again? The question becomes more interesting once you settle what you would be allowed to take with you. What you know today would make some earlier decisions easy to avoid. Without that knowledge, you might choose very much as you did back then.
But even with it, you wouldn't simply get an improved version of the same life. If you skip one encounter, others disappear. A mistake recognised in time could lead you past a place where something good later began. Not because the mistake was necessarily good, but because its consequences interlock.
Perhaps you would still like to undo certain things. Alongside that, another difficulty comes into view: you know the parts of your life you would swap out.
You don't know the life that would be left after the swap.
