While tidying up with others, you notice a task that isn't on any list: the boxes are labelled, but their handles all face the wall. The next person would have to turn each one around before carrying it off.
You shift them a little. Afterwards the room looks almost exactly the same. No one could tell from it how much attention went into it, and you yourself could forget the whole thing at once.
Later you walk into a room where someone has thought ahead for you in a similar way. The chair is free, the coat hook within reach. For a moment you become aware of the work behind surroundings that seem effortless. You put down your bag without first having to make room.
