Saadi

A parrot lived for a while on a mountain. The birds and the other animals there were kind to him. At some point he moved on.

Months later he saw the mountain burning. He dived into the water, flew back and shook the drops from his feathers over the fire. A god of the heavens asked him what he thought he could achieve by that.

The parrot replied that he knew he could not save them. But he had lived there; the animals were like brothers and sisters to him. He could not stand by and watch.

The god was moved by this and put out the fire.
