The Torn Sack
You must live for the other if you wish to live for yourself.
While drinking, an antelope was caught in a leather snare. Its two friends came running. The tortoise began to gnaw through the leather. The woodpecker flew to the hunter's house. When the man stepped out in the morning, the bird struck him in the face. The hunter took it for a bad omen and went back inside. At the back door the same thing happened.
When he finally reached the lake, the antelope tore through the last strap and fled. The tortoise was too exhausted from gnawing. The hunter put it in a sack.
Now the antelope showed itself again, pretended to be weak and lured him after it. In the forest it got away from him. It ran back, knocked the sack to the ground with its horns and tore it open. The tortoise crawled into the water. The woodpecker carried its young away.
